Fake by Default - How to prove what’s real

Fake by Default: How to Prove What’s Real in the Age of AI?
Session language: English.
If any image, voice or document can be generated in seconds, how do we still prove what’s real?
For decades, a photograph, an audio recording or an email was treated as evidence. Today, any content can be generated or manipulated in seconds, and the burden of proof has shifted: digital content is now considered fake until proven otherwise.
This creates a dual challenge. On one side, fraud using deepfakes and synthetic documents that look authentic. On the other, the “liar’s dividend”, where genuine evidence is dismissed as “AI-generated”.

Together, we’ll discuss:
How to ensure authenticity, integrity and chain of custody of digital content
What courts, companies and investigators can still trust as evidence
How deepfake fraud and the “liar’s dividend” are changing risk and compliance
The opportunities this opens for startups focused on trust, forensics and verification
This is not a conversation about fear of AI. It’s about building the tools, processes and standards that let us trust again in a world where seeing is no longer believing.
