1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our platform.

2. Our Services

Local Foundation provides a platform designed to help people:

• build connections within local entrepreneurial and community groups
• find and participate in events
• receive support and communication from organisers and fellow members

We may update, improve or modify features at any time.

3. Your Account Responsibilities

You must:

• provide accurate information
• keep your account secure
• only use the platform for lawful purposes
• be aged 18+ or have appropriate authority to represent a group or organisation

You are responsible for all activity under your account. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms.

4. Profile Visibility & Contact Sharing

You control what information other members and event organisers can see. Information shared with organisers or other members will only be visible if you explicitly opt-in through privacy settings. Please regularly review your visibility and privacy preferences.

5. Community Conduct

To maintain a safe and supportive environment, you agree to:

• be respectful and constructive
• protect others' privacy
• comply with applicable laws

You must not:

• harass, bully or abuse others
• send spam or unwanted promotions
• impersonate another person
• collect data or scrape profiles
• interfere with platform security or operations

We may take action — including removal of content or accounts — for harmful behaviour.

6. Events & Participation

Organisers may set additional rules for events. By attending, you agree to follow organiser instructions, take personal responsibility for your own wellbeing, and behave safely and respectfully.

Local Foundation does not control every event listed on the platform. We are not responsible for event logistics, third-party organiser actions, or injuries or losses arising from event participation.

7. User-Generated Content

You own the rights to content you create. By posting on the platform, you grant Local Foundation a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to store, display and transmit your content; show it to other users as permitted by your privacy settings; and remove or moderate it if necessary to protect the community. We may store edited or archived copies to comply with legal obligations.

8. Intellectual Property

All service features, branding, design and software belong to Local Foundation or our licensors. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer or create derivative works without our written permission.

9. Payment Terms

Some services or events may require payment. Payments are processed securely via approved third parties (e.g., Stripe). All prices are stated inclusive or exclusive of applicable taxes as indicated. Refunds are subject to organiser policies and local consumer laws.

10. Service Availability

We aim to provide a reliable service, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free operation, or that content will always be available. We may suspend or limit the service for maintenance, upgrades or security reasons.

11. Disclaimers & Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the service is provided "as-is". We exclude warranties relating to accuracy, fitness for purpose and availability, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses.

Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of NZD $50, or the amount you paid for the service in the last 6 months. Nothing in these terms limits rights you may have under New Zealand consumer law.

12. Termination

You may stop using the platform and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms, misuse the platform, or act in a way likely to harm others or our reputation. Your obligations relating to conduct, privacy of others, and intellectual property survive termination.

13. Privacy

Your personal information is handled according to our Privacy Policy. We encourage you to review it regularly.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If changes are significant, we will notify you via the platform or email. Continued use of the service after updates means you accept the revised Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of New Zealand courts.
